All Weather Option Strategy - Part 2

In this video, I start out talking about the current state of the market, but then I quickly transition to the topic of implied volatility. I know this is a heavy subject that has been elusive to some of you, so I wanted to dive deep and try to explain in full detail.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments about implied volatility.

With the greatest of respect, this isn’t the video I was expecting. In your last video you said that you were going to lead us through the 12 step process on trading VIX and indices. Your very last words on part one was that you were going to take us through the “very specific makeup of the strategy”. This video doesn’t do that. I am also concerned at the 3 weeks that has elapsed between your last video and this one. Have your priorities changed in the last few weeks as you seem to have been much more focussed on putting videos out on YT in the last week? If so, please be transparent with us and set the right level of expectations.

I get it that your businesses are taking off and you have less time, but don’t promise one thing and deliver another. Your website says weekly videos at the highest level of membership and video chats with traders. Haven’t seen one of those for a long time.

All that being said, I appreciate you have a huge amount of knowledge and I so appreciate what you share with us. Even at $35 a month, it represents outstanding value.

But I do find my faith in you waning a little bit. As you yourself have pointed out previously – disappointment comes from false expectations. Maybe you need to set our expectations a bit more realistic given that your businesses are doing so well and take so much of your time and energy. It’s a free country and you can do what you like with your time but please set expectations appropriatly. Even if we are paying below market value we deserve that.

    Cheers

  • Hey Trent, great video. Thank you! I’m absorbing all content you manage to post (here or YouTube) 🙂

First of all, I would not want to fight Bugs Bunny! That rabbit is vicious! 🙂

You mention the “Prophet Market Indicator” for Trade Station. Can you share it with us? I’m only paying for a “Pro” version of the Trading View, and I’m allowed two charts at a time. If I had the indicators on the TradeStation, I would be able to use multi-charts there effectively.

Thank you again for all you do!

  • Really enjoyed the video. Will have to look into “177 Mental Toughness Secrets of The World Class”. Sounds like an interesting read! I found this video to be very helpful in the sense that just this past week I had sold options and the price stayed neutral BUT the daily P/L went against me. I was pretty certain it was the expansion of the volatility but have now received confirmation after adding the chart and took a look. Trent, I was wondering of the volatility goes from 80 to 20 and back again? I’ll take a look, pretty certain it does but I thought I would throw this out for the group.

I think what Trent was trying to convey to us was a piece of information (volatility) that was super important for all of us to understand before he moved into the next segment which we all were expecting to see this time and wont see until perhaps the next video. Don’t forget we all are at different stages of the learning process when it comes trading and I think he was just trying to make sure that he didn’t have to take “two steps back” later and explain this part of the formula later. I could be wrong and have no idea but he did mention in his previous video that the strategy did pivot on volatility have some roll in the success of the trade.

Wishing you all a great Holiday for those of you living in the USA. Have a great rest of the week and see you all at the next post! Cheers!

    • Hi Robert

Yes I think you are right – understanding IV is really important and part of the puzzle and Trent mentioned this in the Part 1 video. As Ive reflected on it however, this video wasn’t clearly signposted in relation to the previous video (the 12 steps) and my questions about time gaps between videos still stands. If Trent just doesn’t have the bandwidth to do these vids – that’s fine. We understand and grateful for what he has already taught us. Just want some clearer comms on this to set expectations correctly

      Cheers

  • Can you share where you get the fed pivot information to mark on your charts? I found that extremely insightful. I , too, am anxious to see the rest of this option method, but I understand that its a puzzle that needs to be built piece by piece. I will be patient because I know it will make more sense if you explain some of the granular stuff first.

  • The way I see it, any information is useful information especially from someone who has been in the game a long time. Volatility is an important key to options trading and I feel you did a great job driving that home. Looking forward to the next video! Thanks Trent for your hard work and commitment to your subscribers!

  • Great video Trent. I hope you continue to do these if/when you have time and the desire. I always learn a ton.

Do you know if there are any equivalent Volatility indicators on TradingView?
